Case Study
Supporting Growth Across Borders
A relationship built from the ground up
This client first came to us with a specific need — they required an audit of their R&D grant. It was a focused piece of work, but it gave us the chance to get to know the business, and it quickly became clear there was an opportunity to support them in a much broader way.
We got their UK limited company set up on Xero and took on the day-to-day management of their finances — and what started as a one-off audit has grown into a full, ongoing relationship that now includes another Republic of Ireland company.
Unlocking R&D tax relief in the UK
As the business grew, it became clear that the work they were doing qualified for Research & Development tax relief — a valuable but often underutilised benefit that rewards companies for investing in innovation.
We’ve now successfully completed two R&D tax claims for the UK company. Preparing a strong R&D claim isn’t simply a case of filling in a form; it requires a real understanding of the business, the work being carried out, and how to present it compliantly and effectively to HMRC. It’s an area we know well, and one where getting it right really matters.
Growing into Ireland — and taking us with them
When the business expanded to include an Irish company, they didn’t need to look elsewhere for support. We set the Irish entity up on Xero from scratch and took on the full suite of compliance work — VAT returns, payroll, year-end accounts and tax returns — keeping everything running smoothly on both sides of the border.
And just as we’d done in the UK, we identified the opportunity for R&D tax relief in Ireland too. We’ve now completed two successful Irish R&D claims as well, meaning our client has been able to benefit from innovation funding in both jurisdictions.
